Each & every Wednesday for “Woman Crush Wednesdays”, an entrepreneuHER is selected to be featured in the “Boss Babe Spotlight” Series. This series has been curated to shine some light on the small businesses of women who are unapologetically and authentically being themselves while leaving a footprint behind in the world that they live in.
WHO’S UP NEXT?
Today, I am featuring: Adriene B. AKA “Boonie”! Recently, I had the chance to interview Adriene and learn some new and exciting things about her. I want to thank her for taking the time to speak with me so that I could shine some light on all of her dopeness and share it with you all. I certainly look forward to continuing to curate, collaborate, create and celebrate with her in the future! You can shower her with your love & support by listening to her podcast, subscribing to her newsletter or shopping her merch store! Sit back, relax, pour a glass of wine and read about what she shared with me:
What do you want people to know about you and your business?
The Boonie Breakdown podcast is your source for all things responsible and ratchet (trademark pending). I aim to host honest, candid conversations about sex, love, relationships, pop culture, feminism and a whole lot of other sh*t. I always want to encourage people to talk openly about things that are sometimes considered taboo.
What drives you as a business owner?
The ability to do things in my own unique way and watch the response of others is what drives me. The Boonie Breakdown is my space to ideate, create, and execute all my bomb ass ideas. Even if things aren’t as successful as I’d like, I know that I tried and gave it a go.
What kind of legacy/footprint do you want to leave behind?
I want people to say I made them feel good, laugh or even try something new. Making human connections is one of the dopest things I have encountered on this journey! The community I am building, shout out to my ratchetteers, is phenomenal and that really drives me to go harder to leave behind great content.
What knowledge would you like to impart to other small business owners, both new & aspiring and old & experienced?
I would say be thankful for the audience/customers that you have NOW. I know we are in a world where large numbers matter and we all want to grow our audiences, but you have to be thankful and appreciative of the eyes and ears you have now.
What does being a “boss babe” mean to you?
Being a “boss babe” pushes past the fear and does the work to accomplish their goals. Being authentic to who you are as you navigate through life.
If you had to pick a phrase to serve as your words of affirmation, what would it be?
My granny would always say “Am it and Do it.” It reminds me to always just start it and get it done. Stop making excuses and do the work!
Are there any other special gifts or talents that you have that you’d like to share?
Hmmmmm, I am trying to think of some PG talents, LOL! But perhaps…
Ps. Boonie will be hosting her podcast live in Atlanta on November 9th at Peters Street Station! Yes, she’ll actually be in Atlanta Proper! LOL Both she and I hope to see some of you there! Go ahead and purchase your tickets today before they sell out!
